We work directly with high-school students. Therefore all volunteers with Embrace are required to complete both a Police check and Working With Children (WWC) check.

When to apply?

Please apply for your Working With Children check now, regardless of the stage you are currently at with your application. We recommend this as the WWC can take up to two months to return, yet applications are free, last for 5 years and can be used for other purposes even if you do not pass your Embrace interview and other requirements.

Police checks should return within 10 working days, so you may leave completing the application until after a successful interview. We still encourage you to apply ASAP. If you choose to complete the Police check prior to your interview, although it will have no effect on whether or not you pass your interview and other requirements, it will allow you to begin tutoring sooner if your overall application is successful. At the very latest you should complete the Police check by one week following a successful interview .

National Police check:

All volunteers are required to complete a Police check. If you already have a Police check, please see the below Police Check Application Guide to see whether it is able to be used for Embrace purposes.

The check is $15 however Embrace will reimburse you for this cost.

Working With Children (WWC) check:

All volunteers are required to complete a WWC check . The check is free for volunteers. Remember the sooner you apply, the sooner it will come back!

2. WWC Change of Personal Details Form:

   If you already have your WWC check, you will need to download and print off a WWC Change of Personal Details form. You will also find instructions for completing this form in the above WWC Application Guide.
