Embrace Education is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free tutoring and other services to disadvantaged students in Melbourne, Victoria.
 
To apply to work as a volunteer tutor and mentor with Embrace Education, please complete the below application form. Please ensure that you have read our Position Description before applying.
 
When completing the application form please note that any responses which demonstrate poor English skills may automatically exclude your application from further consideration.
 
Before you can be placed within our organisation you will also be required to sit an interview, complete both a Police check and Working With Children (WWC) check application, and pass a reference check. Please visit the Volunteer Checks page for instructions on applying for your Police and WWC checks.

After sending through your Volunteer Application Form, you can expect an email from us within a few days. At the time of your application you will be allocated an interviewer who will be in contact with you to arrange a convenient time for your interview.
 
PRIVACY OF YOUR INFORMATION
The information contained in this form is collected by Embrace Education Australia to enable us to place you as a volunteer within our organisation. Your information will not be disclosed to any person, agency or organisation outside of Embrace Education without your consent, unless we are legally obligated to do so. You may gain access to the information we collect about you by contacting us at our email address. If you do not provide us with the information requested, Embrace Education will not be able to place you as a volunteer.

Please note that applicants are expected to be proactive in chasing up their WWC/Police check requirements and providing proof of their checks to us. There are easy step-by-step guides available from http://www.embrace-education.org/resources/volunteerchecks, however please let us know if you have any questions or are having trouble completing your Police/WWC application.

Personal Details

We welcome overseas applicants, however all applicants must have excellent spoken and written English skills. Overseas applicants should also consider whether they will be able to effectively tutor Australian high-school content with which they may be unfamiliar. Additionally applicants are responsible for observing their visa requirements; Embrace will not be held responsible for a breach of these conditions.

Note: You must be a student in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University or the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne to volunteer in the relevant 'Hands on Health' tutoring program.

Please list all times that you are available (including the weekend) both for tutoring and for conducting your interview. Interviews are held at Monash University Clayton, or Monash University Caulfield (if you are intending to volunteer in Caulfield). You will be allocated to a suitable interviewer following your application.

Please provide your VCE (or equivalent end of high-school) score: although no strict VCE score requirement exists, a level of knowledge and academic ability consistent with a score of 75 (out of a maximum of 99.95) is required.

Please include all other subjects that you studied during VCE or VCE equivalent.
